I am excited and most pleased to share with you that we in Manitoba just unveiled (June 10) a video on recovery entitled: RECOVERY: Hope Changes Everything. The occasion was the two day “Recovery Working Days” in which approximately 125 “recovery champions” gathered together : family members, consumers and service providers. Our keynote speaker was Dr. Mike Slade from England.
This event was hosted by the Mental Health and Spiritual Health Care branch of Manitoba Health, Healthy Living and Seniors in partnership with the Recovery Champions Committee. The video was produced by the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society with funding from the Government of Manitoba and support from the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
The purpose of the video is to be a tool for starting conversations about recovery and recovery-oriented mental health services.
Also the Mental Health Commission of Canada unveiled the first ever Guidelines for Recovery-Oriented Practice at our meeting in Winnipeg. It was a great highlight for us in Manitoba.
